Now a sixteen year industry veteran, I began my career with the Bryan/College Station Convention & Visitor Bureau as marketing assistant. I took that knowledge to the hotel side of the meetings and events industry where I worked for the InterContinental Central Park South in New York City. After my time in “The Big Apple” I returned to Texas and accepted a position with a third party representation firm, The Krisam Group, where I represented over 400 mostly independent properties. Later, I had the opportunity to join Double Diamond Resorts out of Dallas, TX. While Director of Sales at Double Diamond, I oversaw the sales operations for all properties across the United States focusing on the small corporate meetings market and golf events.
 
In 2011, I joined La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa in Montgomery, TX. As Director of Sales & Marketing, I oversaw marketing, group & transient sales, membership & conference services. Most recently, in 2016, I’ve been blessed to join the team at Infinix Global Meetings & Events and Rx Worldwide as Director of Sales & Marketing. At Infinix, we provide full meeting management, partial meeting management, site selection services and incentive planning. In this role, I also oversee the marketing and vendor sourcing operations. It’s been thrilling to join the team amidst great growth and vision!
 
I have a great passion for serving the community and providing others with tools for advancement. From 2010-2012, I served as Associate Professor at Collin College and taught the Introduction to Meetings & Events and Special Event Design courses. I had the opportunity to volunteer with Meeting Professionals International D/FW Chapter as a Board Member from 2009-2014. As a career high honor, I was recognized as Rising Star for MPI DFW in 2010 and served the chapter as President in 2012-2013. In addition to serving within the meetings & events industry, I’m driven to volunteer for the community at large and have given time to OutTakes Dallas, the North Texas Food Bank, served as a steering committee member for LifeWalk Dallas, as a Board Member for the Historic Montgomery Business Association and as President of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce in 2015.
 
I’m thrilled to join SITE Texas and learn from the best within the industry. The networking and education provided gives my organization a clear opportunity for growth and return on investment. I can’t wait to get involved!

Michelle Sharples is originally from Kelowna, B.C., Canada and graduated from The British Columbia Institute of Technology – Hospitality Administration. Her family relocated in support of her husband’s hockey career in 1993. She has been a Las Vegas resident since then and naturalized with American Citizenship in 2000. Her background in hospitality led her to a position with The Foundation Room where she held a Sales Manager position for 4 years. This was followed by a seven year tenure at Cirque du Soleil where her skillset was most notably recognized. She is credited with successfully implementing various sales channels and creating the portfolio branding strategy still used by Cirque. Her efforts afforded the company exponential growth among the travel and tourism sector with a solid base of repeat customers.
Currently, she is the Director of Sales with BASE Entertainment sharing her extensive knowledge of the Las Vegas hospitality and entertainment industry. Her instinctive ability to create growth opportunities and foster relationships has propelled BASE Entertainment as a leader within the market.
Michelle is esteemed as a true leader, particularly for her volunteer work with the Las Vegas Hospitality Association (LVHA). Over the previous three years she has served on the LVHA Board of Directors and currently serves as the VP of Membership. In conversation, you will commonly hear fellow industry colleagues share the same sentiment, “I love working with Michelle!” Her commitment to deliver the highest level of service has earned the utmost respect from her peers and clients.
Her top priority and commitment is to her husband Jeff, daughters Meg and Molly and their four legged family members Molson and Kokanee. She enjoys ‘skirfing’ Lake Mead, reading, soccer trips for her daughters, visiting family in Canada, and spending time with her friends in Las Vegas.
